Picture of the day! February 29th, 2012
Today, I'm not going to be posting any more, although I had planned to. The picture is essentially why that is.
Picture of the Day! February 28th, 2012
So, I know that this is a little late and I'm essentially lying about the date, but I have a good excuse, I swear!
Last night, I had my monthly Women's Institute meeting, and it was a delicious one! Now, delicious isn't usually how one would describe a meeting, but we were doing a chocolate tasting... So yummy! But that's another story for another post!
After I got home, I was on skype for the rest of the evening, and by the time I remembered my picture of the day, I was drifting off into sleep... So here it is, a day late. Hopefully you can all forgive me!

Picture of the Day! February 27th, 2012
Here's a reeeally touristy picture of me while Matt and I were taking advantage of the nice weather (which is now gone). It was taken at St. Katharine Docks. Enjoy!

Easy Avocado Pasta
First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in posting this; it was supposed to go up last tuesday, but I somehow became rather busy, and then we got a rare patch of gorgeous weather, so I was out getting more material for you guys! (Pictures to come)
Now on to the pièce de resistance!
When I first thought of this idea, I thought I was crazy, but I had limited supplies in my kitchen so I went along with it.
The result ended up being delicious! The avocado made a nice and creamy - but light - sauce, and the flavours were delicious!
This recipe is so easy and fool proof that with the right ingredients anyone can make it!

Picture of the Day! February 18th, 19th, 20th, 2012
So this past weekend Matt and I were at the brutal end of some London Underground Closures, which combined with my still weak ankle, made a quite small radius of things for us to do. Because of that, we didn't get up to much and when we tried, we walked about 3km trying to find a station before we gave up.
Anyways, because of the two days of Pictures of the day that I missed, today I'm giving you three! They were taken while trying to get to an open tube station!

So my picture of the day is half a recipe, half a picture. It's one of the things that made me decide to write a blog!
The End of Matt's Valentines Week!
As I mentioned before, the chocolate covered berries weren't Matt's only present! Since we're both poor and I couldn't buy him much, I decided to make him some personalized chocolates!
One of his favourite things in chocolate is citrus, so I decided to play off of that. The ones I made for him were Lime-Clementine flavoured!

In honour of my friend Sylvia's birthday today, my PotD is based on her! Enjoy!
The No.11 Bus
Yesterday, I had a hair appointment on the other side of London, in the south west. No matter how I routed it, it was going to be a long ride, so I figured it might as well be a scenic long drive! By taking the no. 11 bus from Liverpool Street Station, I managed to cross off 190 through 224 from the 2012 things to do.
I have to admit, this bus gave me an amazing crash course on the main sights of London, and for a tenth of the price of a tour guide bus!
The first sight that caught my eye (I forgot the book at home! woops!) was St. Paul's Cathedral

So today I went out on a little adventure, but since it's late here, I'm going to leave that story for tomorrow! Buuuut as promised, after the jump you can see a sneak peek of what I saw!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries
When you think of St. Valentines day, what do you think of? The way I see it is that regardless of your marital status, its an excuse to eat chocolate. Even if you don't eat chocolate on the day of, the sale chocolate is bound to last you a while!
So although my original plan for Matt didn't work out for today (I'll be making it sometime soon though so stay posted!), I decided that he would be getting home made Chocolate Covered Strawberries! While I was at the store, they had strawberries and raspberries (his favourite!) were on offer, so I bought one of each.

Picture of the Day! - February 14th, 2012
So today I had to venture out of the apartment to get the supplies for Matt's first Valentines Day surprise! (The recipe for that as well as the others will be posted asap) Since I had never really explored what was beyond the local Waitrose, I decided to go a little bit further, regardless of the condition of my ankle.
I had an idea of what was just beyond - a place called St. Katharine Docks - and from my extensive research pre-move, I knew there was a Starbucks there (aka motive). It took a bit of exploring, and honing my Starbucks radar, but eventually I got to the motherland! It was the cutest Starbucks I have ever seen. A cylindrical building with a dome top - all in glass - that looked upon a boatyard (surprise!). While I was sitting outside (because I'm brave like that), I snapped this picture (After the jump!)

Granola Bars à la Julie
Granola Bars. One of the simplest things, right? We eat them from a young age, but unlike so many other products, I don't see them being made at home very frequently. Why is that? They're so easy to make!Essentially all you need are oats, whatever flavourings you like, and a bonding agent, throw that all in the oven, and bam! You've got some of the tastiest granola bars ever!
Now, I'm usually one for a recipe, but with things like these, I can't seem to bring myself to! what you need to is grab a mixing bowl, and everything you like in your granola bars. For me, the chunkier, the better.
In this recipe I used Cashews (halved), Pistachios (chopped), Raisins, Craisins, Chocolate Chips, Sunflower Seeds and Oats as the main ingredients.

I'm going to spice up my life...
I never thought the day would come where I was writing a blog. I always figured they were for more interesting and skilled people, but hey, I might as well give it a shot, right?
